Mini Movie Review: Fast & Furious 6

Tuesday night means another cheap movie night! This time it was to see Fast & Furious 6. I was also super excited because I got the kids' combo which was for Monster's University :) because clearly I'm a giant dork. I now have a Sulley cup topper to join the rest of my collection.
Alright, starting with the (ridiculously long) synopsis and then into the review.

Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson lead the returning cast of all-stars as the global blockbuster franchise built on speed races to its next continent in Fast & Furious 6. Reuniting for their most high-stakes adventure yet, fan favorites Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Elsa Pataky are joined by badass series newcomers Luke Evans and Gina Carano. Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete. Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.
I feel like I should have watched the last movie again, because I really don't remember what happened. That being said, I don't think there was much that carried over. Other than Letty supposedly being dead, and Brian is having a kid.

The movie starts with Hobbs asking Dom to help him, and he's pretty adamant about saying no, until he sees the picture of Letty. He then agrees, just to find out if she might be alive, and to bring her home. The rest of the team comes together pretty willingly. Brian needs a little persuading to leave Mia and the baby, but she convinces him to go.

Most of the movie is just the fast driving and chasing the bad guys. Some things blow up, a couple people die...but the basis is the fast car chases.

Overall I thought it was a pretty good movie. It had some pretty funny moments, lots of action, and a bit of a twist at the end. I'd recommend it if you like action movies, and want to watch something fun and not too serious.

I found out that this movie is actually supposed to take place just before Tokyo Drift (fast 3), and that there will apparently be a Fast & Furious 7...not sure how I feel about that yet. I almost feel like it's hit it's peak and will be downhill from here. But we shall see.

Stay tuned for more misadventures.
